Buying and Selling Art Using the ArtsWe.com Secure Sales Process
On the ArtsWe

Selling Artworks Using ArtsWe's Secure Sales Process

ArtsWe.com has developed a system, which we call our Secure Sales Process (SSP), for our Members to securely Buy and Sell Artworks posted on ArtsWe.com. ArtsWe.com has developed this website, at substantial effort and cost on our part, for the benefit of all ArtsWe Members to exhibit their Artworks for free, and to buy and sell artworks. It is our hope that ArtsWe Members will in turn, help support ArtsWe.com, by using the modestly priced Secure 'Sales Process we have developed.  Thank you for your consideration and support. There are significant advantages, at a small cost, to using SSP.

These advantages include:

a) During all SSP sales, ArtsWe assists both the Buyer and Seller, and keeps both fully informed of the

progress of the sale, until the sale is totally finalized.

b) The Seller is assured that they will receive payment for the Artwork they send the Buyer.

c) The Buyer is assured they will receive the Artwork they have paid for, and are satisfied with the purchase.

(Technically, because WebsWe, Inc. is the corporate owner of ArtsWe.com, all financial transactions are carried out through WebsWe, Inc. Thus, any payments to, or from, ArtsWe.com are actually processed by WebsWe, Inc.)

Overall SSP buy/sell sequence:

a. The Buyer selects an Artwork to buy, and pays Google Checkout (GC) the Artwork price (including shipping).

b. GC forwards money to ArtsWe.com (less the GC transaction fee) to hold while the Artwork is shipped.

c. ArtsWe notifies Seller that Buyer has paid for Art, and to ship Art to Buyer address provided by ArtsWe.com.

d. The Seller ships Art, and notifies ArtsWe.com (including selected courier and any tracking numbers).

e. ArtsWe notifies Buyer that Art has been shipped, and provides Courier and tracking number information.

f.  The Buyer notifies ArtsWe when the Art is received, and that they are satisfied with the purchase.

g. ArtsWe sends payment (less our 8% commission) to Seller within two weeks of completion of sale.

We strongly recommend that all Artwork shipments be insured for the value of the shipment at the time of shipment.

If the Buyer is not satisfied with the purchase, he/she must send the Art back to the Seller (at Buyer's expense). When the Seller indicates they have received Art back in good condition, ArtsWe refunds money paid by Buyer (less GC fee) to the Buyer.

Please note that ArtsWe pays Google Checkout fees out of our 8% commission. Google Checkout fees are based on the total cost of the shipment, including shipping costs. Thus, the ArtsWe commission is also based on the total cost of the sale, including selling price of Art, plus shipping fees.

Should any disagreement arise during an SSP sales process, we will assist both the Seller and the Buyer,

to the best of our ability, and in an unbiased manner, to help resolve any issues that arise.

ArtsWe keeps Buyer and Seller fully informed of the progress of the sale with a series of e-mails that document significant events in the buy/sell process.

If a Member chooses to op out of using our Secure Sales Process he/she will not receive the benefits of the SSP system.

Please direct all questions about Buying and Selling Art, not answered by this document, to Sales@ArtsWe.com.

As stated in our Terms and Conditions, because ArtsWe never assumes ownership, nor physically handles, any Member-owned Artworks, at any time, while displayed, bought, or sold using ArtsWe.com, we cannot be responsible for any damages to, nor miss-representations by Members, of items bought and sold using ArtsWe.com. All Members who use ArtsWe.com to show, buy, or sell their Artworks, agree to hold ArtsWe.com, WebsWe, Inc., and it's Employees, or Associates, harmless from any liability for any reason as a result of using any WebsWe, Inc. website, including ArtsWe.com.

Changes in Artwork "Scoring" and Suggestions on Member Feedback
Recent Changes in Artwork Scoring and Member Feedback

Recent Changes in Artwork Scoring and Member Feedback

 1. ArtsWe.com Adopts Better Artwork "Scoring"

We have frequently been asked "What does 'Score' mean?". When we initially devised the scoring system, it included components for:  A) the "Talent" required to produce the Artwork; B) the "Creativity" shown by the work; and C) how "Enjoyable" or "Pleasing" is the work?

Because our rating system seemed confusing to many Members, we have adopted the more straightforward AJAX Star Rating Bar rating system. Each Member can rate any posted Artwork (except their own) one time, (and one time only, so as to not "stack the deck"), on a scale of 1 to 5, hopefully considering criteria similar to those of our previous rating system.

The Star Rating system will keep track of the total of all ratings, and divide it by the number of times the work is rated. The Star Rating system will then show the average of all ratings posted, and also the number of times the work has been rated. This system is more in line with conventional rating systems, and should eliminate any confusion among our Members.

Please note that all current "Scores" will be deleted, as of today, because they will not be compatible with the new rating system.

2. Members Want Feedback on "How They Are Doing"

Another frequent question we have seen in Member comments, especially among newer Artists, is "How am I doing?". We encourage all Members to use the "Comments" link, which is on each Artwork, and also on each Member's "Profile" page, to compliment Artists who are creating excellent work, or to suggest to others on how they may improve their work. We also encourage Members to respond to anyone who makes a comment about your work. These comments back and forth will help to build the "ArtsWe Community", and friendships will be formed (as we have already seen) around the Artworks that are posted.

The "Feedback" link on the ArtsWe.com home page, blue links bar, is reserved for Members to make comments to the ArtsWe.com staff. We encourage you to submit any comments (positive or negative) that you wish, about the website at any time.  Please include your e-mail address in the space provided in the Feedback form, so we can answer your questions or suggestions, or thank you for leaving your comment.

Thank you for being a Member of ArtsWe.com!!

Sincerely,

Ken Boyer
