Pablo Picasso once said, “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary”. For me there is much truth in this statement. Any one of my paintings bookmarks a place in time in the same way that a familiar smell might spark a memory. Most of my paintings are taken from the adventures and madness that surround us all. Even many of the more abstract pieces have meanings that are relevant to the moment they were conceived. While I’m normally drawn to bright, vibrant colors, the colors, as well as the images, change with the moods and emotions. Painting for me is a release, a way to vent and express myself. Being an artist isn’t necessarily something I aspired to do, but rather something I surrendered to. It’s not really a career choice, or a job, it’s simply who I am. While I do enjoy selling them, the best reward is when someone, no matter who they are, likes my work enough to simply stop what they are doing, pause for a moment, and just take a look.
